After his 'PoK belongs to Pakistan' remark, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah has made another controversial statement saying, raise Indian flag in Srinagar first. Abdullah, who is under fire for controversial comment said that the India government should try to raise the flag in Lal Chawk in Srinagar first, before attempting the feat in PoK. Taking jibe at the Centre, he said, “They are talking of raising flag at PoK. I ask them, first you go and raise the Tricolour at Lal Chawk in Srinagar. They can’t even do that here and they are talking about PoK." Unfazed by the criticism of his remarks that the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir belonged to Pakistan and 'this won't change' no matter how many wars India and Pakistan fight, he reiterated his stand saying this was the only realistic solution to herald a new era of peace and trust in the region. On Sunday, following the abduction and killing of a Territorial Army jawan by militants, Abdullah also expressed concerns over the 'worsening security situation' in Jammu and Kashmir and said the Centre has to frame its response vis-a-vis Pakistan for bringing peace in the region. "Conversion of the Line of Control (LoC) into a line of peace will improve the living conditions of people on both sides and promote interaction and goodwill," Abdullah said. A social activist had also filed a complaint with the district magistrate against Farooq Abdullah seeking registration of sedition cases against them for their remarks on Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
